Henderson Beach State Park, Destin, Florida

These are photos I took at Henderson Beach State Park in Destin, FL last week.

I was trying to show good examples of the horizon line, and how where you place it on your painting changes the focus of your piece.

Of course the horizon is always a straight line, but look how it shows more emphasis on the water when it is high, and more emphasis on the sky when it is low.

We often want to place our horizon line directly in the middle of our piece, but as seen here, it is much more pleasing to the eye to place it at the upper or lower 1/3 point.

I took a few of the photos to show the clouds, too. They are not always round and fluffy. The sky is not the same shade of blue all of the way across, and the clouds are not just one shade of white.

There are lines, shades, deeper and lighter blues, even a tad of yellow and orange tinged in here and there. The clouds are shades of gray and blue-white.

Mother Nature offers us so much beauty.

Where was the most beautiful landscape that you have ever seen? Do you have pictures?
