I started this How to Use a Wood Grain Tool with Chalky Paint project with a black-to-grey ombre on a little side table that I got. I paid very little for a set of three. Of course, the goal when you are flipping furniture is to give the new piece a high-end finished look even if you originally paid peanuts for it. The materials and time it took certainly bring up the value.
This one was in need of a makeover and this wood-graining tool was a perfect solution for its new look. I will show you how to use a handheld wood graining tool to apply faux wood grain effects to furniture. For this project, I use Dixie Belle chalky style paint in Caviar (black) over Drop Cloth (white).
