Then Sings My Soul Church Painting
acrylic, wax, clay paint, pine
Height: 23 Inches; Width: 26 Inches
This acrylic piece was painted while reminiscing of the collection of church figures that my grandfather collected, and of all of the Sundays that I spent in church with him and my grandmother. Thinking of my favorite old hymns as inspiration, “Then Sings My Soul” was one that I really felt (and still feel) in my heart. I was blessed to attend small country churches as a child, and I hope I was able to share these memories with you in a just manner.
My husband hand built the frame from pine, which I lightly painted in white clay- based paint, and finished with wax as a protectant, using a darker wax as a slight distressing technique on the edges, and a lighter wax in the center to hilight the rustic frame.
I hope you enjoy this piece in your home, as much as I loved spending the day creating it while enjoying memories of my grandparents.
