canvas, acrylic, clay paint, pine, wax
Height: 20 Inches; Width: 20 Inches
This 12” x 12” canvas was painted in honor of my grandmother.
This acrylic piece was painted while thinking of the tradition of women wearing red floral corsages on Mother’s Day, if their mother was still living. A time-honored tradition in the South. I chose the daisy, as it represents happy times and smiles to me, and two flowers represent a mother and her daughter.
My husband hand built the frame from pine, which I lightly painted in red and green clay- based paint, and finished with wax as a protectant, using a darker wax as a slight distressing technique on the edges, and a lighter wax in the center to hilight the rustic frame.
I hope you enjoy this piece in your home, as much as I loved spending the day creating it while enjpying memories of my Mother and Grandmother.
